History

I have been into fitness since my early teens when I was an avid cyclist and olympic wrestler.

In my early 20s I trained in MMA, Trail Running which culminated in 2014 where I completed a Tough Mudder despite having to walk the last 30%.
I ran the Leicester half marathon in 2017 and have not run any considerable distance since.

I discovered strength training in early 2014 and started more seriously lifting in 2015, following the StrongLifts 5×5 protocol while living in Canada.

When I returned to the UK I continued to lift on and off but with no specific programme.

I properly started lifting again in mid 2019 again using “Starting Strength: Basic Barbell Training”. 

I plateaued and stopped in September 2019 with the following PRs:

  • Squat – 140kg
  • Deadlift – 120kg
  • Bench – 72.5kg
  • Press – 47.5kg
  • Bodyweight – 90kg

I started lifting under the tutelage of Mac at Barbell Logic Online Coaching in Feb 2020 and have seen my most progression in since then.

Starting off in a basic Linear Progression format I then progressed through various training blocks.

Having progress through a version of HLM where the accessory lifts and conditioning work were mainly strongman based, I am now self coaching an 8/5/2 programme 3 days per week over a 4 week rotation. This is still focussed on the main 4 strength lifts, again with accessory lifts and conditioning work being strongman based.
